Our goal is to bring together the global scientific community and beekeepers from around the world to share knowledge and experiences related to bees and beekeeping practices. The program is designed in close collaboration with the Apimondia Scientific Committee, public and private sectors, and the Committee Chairperson to ensure a comprehensive and impactful event.
Africa considers beekeeping as a strategic sector that aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With a special emphasis on developmental beekeeping and environmental conservation strategies, the program aims to promote sustainable practices and the conservation of biodiversity.
Tanzania boasts a strong and longstanding cooperation between beekeepers, associations, and scientists, both within the region and worldwide. The country is the only one in Africa with academic institutions supporting beekeeping training from certificate to post-graduate (PhD) levels. Notable institutions include the Beekeeping Training Institute – Tabora (BTI-Tabora), Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), and University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).
